Epidemiologi och global hälsa, Umeå Universitet, 90185 Umeå

I am employed as a project coordinator at the Centre for Rural Medicine in Region Västerbotten and have, among other things, worked on the development project SOS 1.0, which involved mapping entire care chains with the help of interviews with staff and patients, and statistics from healthcare data systems and national quality registers. This was then used to optimise care chains across organisational boundaries through simulation.

Since autumn 2022, I am a doctoral student and study the medical faculty's doctoral programme at 100% for 4 years and plan to defend my thesis in the spring of 2026. The main purpose of the studies in my thesis is to gain more knowledge about patients' experiences of what is valuable and important to them in encounters with health care and how their needs are met through digital care encounters such as video consultations, especially in sparsely populated regions in Sweden. My first sub-study is a systematic review that includes qualitative studies focusing on adult patients' experiences of video consultations with health care. My second sub-study is an interview study on patients' experiences of acute video consultations in the emergency rooms of Västerbotten's hospitals. My third sub-study seeks knowledge about people's experiences of meetings with their regular doctor who makes rounds in special homes via tablet, and the fourth sub-study will, in a broader perspective, investigate what good care is in a care chain and whether it can become more seamless with digital technology.

My basic education is specialist nurse in care of the elderly where I have a master's degree in medicine and my master thesis was about palliative care. My research interest started at the Department of Biochemistry at Umeå University where I was a research student during my upper secondary education and the interest continued to develop during my education in nursing. I have also taken a course in the basics of AI at Linköping University.

Since 2022, I am the scientific secretary of the Swedish Association for Rural Medicine.
