In the late 1990s I graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked several years in the emergency medical care and the neonatal unit. In the beginning of 2006 I held a position as Midwife, working at the delivery ward and at the neonatal unit.

When the opportunity of a doctoral studentship was possible I applied, thinking this could be a way of deepening my understanding for women´s health issues in the field of Sexual and Reproductive health.

In these years of doctoral studies I had the opportunity to focus my research on women with Gestational diabetes mellitus, physical activity during pregnancy and midwives' counselling, resulting in my thesis “Experiences of counselling on physical activity during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes mellitus - screening and pregnancy outcomes”.

After my dissertation in may 2016 I had the opportunity to a unique position as a Quality Improvement and development manager at the Centre of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Region Västerbotten. During three valuable years we got the chance to address and change some health care challenges I identified as a freshly graduated Midwife 10 years earlier. One of the challenges in particularly was the insufficient care of women with a severe perineal tear where we started up a Pelvic floor Unit focusing on women with complications.

Since mars 2020 I have a position as an associated professor in Sexual and Reproductive Health at the Department of Nursing, Midwifery programme, Umeå University and an associated position as a Development manager/Midwife at the Centre of obstetrics and gynecology, Region Västerbotten.
