I am a PhD student in History focused on modern history and what is usually classified as right-wing extremism (even though both right-wing and extremism kan be misleading and problematic terms). I am currently working on a dissertation that will be a kind of biography of the ideas of Per Engdahl. Engdahl is perhaps mostly known to the general public through his connection with IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad, who was an outspoken admirer of Engdahl. He is more intreseting from a historical and international perspective as the leader of the European Social movement (or ESB, Europäische Soziale Bewegung). The ESB was founded in Malmö in 1951 as a kind of international for (neo-)fascist organisations in primarily Western Europe after the second world war. Engdahl formulated a very distinct version of (neo-)fascism, that he called New Swedish Socialism (and later just New Swedishness). He is therefore a very intresting case-study in the perspective of comparative fascist studies, a field in which transnational aspects are currently a popular area of research.
