I am a Doctor of Philosophy in Sámi Dutkan/Sámi Studies, and affiliated to the Department of Language Studies and Arcum – the Arctic Centre at Umeå University. As a PhD student, I had a digital humanities profile and was involved with activities at Humlab.

My research interests revolve around how artistic expressions and practices shape discourses influencing socio-political power relations, and perceptions of human-human and human-planetary relations. Within this, I am very interested in how historical and contemporary colonialism and decolonisation operates, particularly in the relationship between Sápmi and Sweden.

In autum 2020 I defended my PhD thesis entitled Decolonising Artivism in Contemporary Sápmi. Through the work of four contemporary artists – poet and spoken word artist Timimie Märak, artivist Jenni Laiti (including the artivist network Suohpanterror), painter and street artist Anders Sunna, and joik musician Jörgen Stenberg – issues on artivistic work and practice in relation to decolonisation is explored. The dissertation is written in Swedish, with summaries in Nort Sámi and English.
