Application for approved leave from studies
If you need to take a break in your studies with the aim of resuming them at another time, you can apply for an approved leave from studies. You need fill in and sign the form and hand it in to the study administration.
To be granted an approved leave from studies you need to have special reasons. Special grounds may be social, medical or other special circumstances such as, for example, care of a child, compulsory military or civilian service, or students' union posts.
Once granted an approved leave from studies, this means that you are guaranteed a place to the course for a specified semester if you sign up for the resumption of studies in accordance with the rules set out in the Rules for study administration at first- and second-cycle levels.
If you notify non-completion of studies, this means that your admission to the course or programme in question will cease to apply and that you are not guaranteed a place if you wish to resume your studies at a later course or programme time.
Before you complete and submit the notification, it is important that you read the rules for the non-completion of studies in the Rules for study administration at first- and second-cycle levels. In the rules, you will also find information on what you need to do in order to resume your studies.
Resumption of studies after an approved leave from studies
To resume your studies on the programme you need to submit a application to the appropriate courses through universityadmissions.se. Application must be submitted by April 15 for the following fall semester and October 15 for the following spring semester.
When a student does not resume studies at the stated time, it is considered as a non-completion of studies and the student will lose the place on the programme.
Students who have been granted an approved leave from studies have guaranteed admission on the courses according to the educational plan of the programme, with the condition that they apply for resumption of studies in time, fulfil the criteria for eligibility and accept their admission to the course according to rules and regulations.
