Pedagogical Development Project in Higher Education

This self-study course is designed for those who wish to deepen their understanding of educational issues within their field of study. Based on principles of higher education pedagogy, the development work aims to improve teaching practices for student learning and/or to develop structural and organizational processes relevant to educational activities.

The goal of the course is to support you, as a university teacher, in your professional development and your scientific approach to education and teaching. During the course, you will have the opportunity to develop the knowledge necessary to plan and implement educational development work on a scientific basis.

Throughout the course, you will carry out an in-depth development project with the support of an experienced supervisor and a Canvas site. The content and format of the project will be adapted to the pedagogical development needs that you have identified at your department. This could involve improving existing methods or trying out new ideas.

When applying for the course, you should include a brief description of your focus area, objectives, implementation intentions (phases), including a tentative timeline, expected results, and a working title for your project.

Course Structure

The course starts on a rolling basis, and the activities can be carried out in both Swedish and English.

The course is divided into different phases, and there are two options regarding the course scope. In phases 1–4, a foundation is laid for potential development work, concluding with a plan for the implementation of a development project. This option is for those who want to test an idea and receive support in planning development work but are unable to implement it at this time. For those continuing with phases 5–7, the implementation, evaluation, and documentation of the planned project are included.
