We seek one field assistant to work with soil ecological research in the Department of Ecology, Environment and Geoscience, with placement in Umeå. This is an intermittent employment from 1 December 2025 – 28 February 2026. The application deadline is 2025-11-21.

Job Duties
The field assistant will participate in various research activities in the lab. This work will include processing field samples, assisting in the preparation of lab experiments and analyses, and executing lab measurements.

Examples of tasks could include:

  • Processing soil samples
  • Weighing and pH measurement
  • Preparing nutrient solutions
  • Assisting in setting up and disassembling lab experiments
  • General lab maintenance

Qualifications
We are looking for applicants with at least a bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science or equivalent. Applicants should have experience working in the lab. Formal training as a lab technician and knowledge of soil sampling and analysis techniques is a strong merit.

Intermittent employment
The intermittent form of employment means that you may be offered work on occasional, short-term occasions during the current reference period. Each period of employment is limited in duration in accordance with Section 5, Paragraph 1 of the Employment Protection Act. Being available in this way means that you may choose to accept or decline each work opportunity you are offered, and that a new employment is established for each individual occasion on which you work.
