Centre for Demographic and Ageing Research (CEDAR), and Umeå Centre for Gender Studies (UCGS) are announcing a joint postdoctoral position in historical demography with a gender profile. The position includes two-years of full time (100%) research, starting in September the 1st, 2018, or according to agreement.
CEDAR, (www.cedar.umu.se) is an interdisciplinary research unit for demographic and ageing research at Umeå University. The Centre hosts a number of powerful population databases including both contemporary and historical longitudinal data (such as POPUM, POPLINK, Linnaeus database and SHARE).
UCGS (www.ucgs.umu.se) is a multidisciplinary research center with the aim to strengthen gender research at Umeå University. UCGS conducts education from undergraduate to postgraduate level in gender studies. The candidate to this position will primarily conduct historical research with an integrated gender and critical perspective, by employing different types of historical population registers.

As the position is interdisciplinary, a successful candidate might hold a PhD in various disciplines such as history, economic history, geography, sociology or economics.
To be eligible for this position, you must have completed a PhD (or equivalent degree). Priority will be given to applicants who have defended their PhD thesis three years before the day of this job announcement.
Documented experience in conducting research on historical living conditions based on gender or/and critical perspectives is a merit. Considered a merit is likewise documented methodological and statistical competence (longitudinal analysis) of conducting research on register data, as well as managing large databases.
