We are announcing a research assistant position in cognitive neuroscience at the Department of Integrative Medical Biology placed at the Umeå center for Functional Brain Imaging (UFBI, www.ufbi.umu.se). UFBI is an interdisciplinary research center where functional and structural brain imaging is used to address several basic science and clinical research questions. The current position is in Researcher Johan Eriksson’s research Group.
The term “consciousness” has several meanings, including “levels of consciousness” and the “content of consciousness”. The purpose of the current project is to investigate how these two phenomena are related. The work involves development and implementation of new experiments to clarify how the brain processes conscious and unconscious information during various levels of consciousness, by applying various perceptual tasks in combination with functional brain imaging (fMRI).
Eligible to apply are individuals with a PhD or equivalent scientific skills. A successful candidate should be skilled in cognitive neuroscience, statistics, and scientific communication in english, both orally and in writing. Experience with functional brain imaging, preferably fMRI, and programming skills, are of advantage. The applicant should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a research team. Emphasis is put on the applicants suitability for the current Project.
Application for the fellowship should include:
A brief cover letter (about one page) that describes the applicant’s research experience, research interests, and suitability for the project.
Curriculum vitae including information about academic degrees (with verifications), technical expertise, employments, list of publications, and names and contact information for two references.
The position is for two years. Start date: March 1st 2018, or upon agreement
