I work with ecopoetry as methodology and practice of thinking with the atmosphere and the geology of the Anthropocene.
I am a poet and translator of (mostly) ecopoetry.
I am also a researcher at the American Studies Research Group of the Centre for English Studies, University of Lisbon; and a Research Fellow at the Center for Gary Snyder Studies at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), China, and affiliated researcher at ARCUM, Arctic Research Centre, Umeå University.
My Master's Thesis on Buddhism and Ecocriticism in Gary Snyder's work is available here (in Portuguese) and was completed at the Department of English Studies, University of Lisbon.
In my teaching I apply horizontal hierarchy and pedagogical methods that support learning with and from others. I have taught:
2020 - Second Cycle Faculty course - The Imagined Arctic - Spring Term at Umeå University, Sweden. Co-taught with Maria Lindgren Leavenworth and Eavan O’Dochartaigh.
2018/9 - First cycle Campus course - PostColonial English Literature - Winter and Spring Terms at Umeå University, Sweden.
2018- Class on ecopoetry in UTAD, the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, at the bachelor course Ecocriticism and Literatures of English Speaking Countries.
2016 - Class on Ecocriticism and Ecopoetry at the bachelor course Ecocinema in the College of Liberal Arts, Shantou University, China.
2014/6 - First cycle online course - The Study of Literatures in English-speaking Countries - Spring and Winter Terms at Mid Sweden University, Sweden.
2010 – Lectured three introductory workshops to major themes, topics and movements of 20th century North American Literature, at Pó dos Livros Bookshop Lisbon, Portugal.
