Om Seoul

Seoul är Sydkoreas huvudstad och har över 10 miljoner invånare, 25 miljoner bor i hela storstadsregionen. Seoul ligger på Han-floden och är omgivet av berg. Det är världens femte dyraste stad att bo i och den näst dyraste i hela Asien. Seoul är ett viktigt finansiellt centrum i Asien och några av världens största företag har sitt huvudkontor här. Staden har också utmärkt sig som en shopping-stad; marknaden Dongdaemun är den största marknaden i Korea och Yongsans elektroniska marknad är den största av sitt slag i Asien.

There is a high demand in some course areas, especially in Business School, Media and Communication and International Studies. These areas are very competitive. There is no guarantee to be admitted and it is unlikely to be accepted to more than three courses in those areas.

Please note that Korea University cannot recommend or find a course for an individual student. It is student's responsibility to make a backup plan when they make their course plan.

Please note! Students on undergraduate level (bachelor level) need to have completed a minimum of 2 full semesters before applying to Korea University. Students on graduate level (master level) need to have completed a minimum of 1 full semester on graduate (master) level before applying to Korea University. Transcripts including the second semester (first semester for graduate/master level) issued during or after the application period are not acceptable.

There is a high demand for courses from Business School, Media & Communications, International Studies and Psychology (courses that start with BUSS, JMCO, DISS, PSYC) and you may not get enrolled in those courses as our course registration system is a first come first served based system. Please be ready with your plan B.

Course List

Undergraduates may refer to the courses list under “Major Subject” and “General Subject”. Graduate level students may refer to the course lists under the “Graduate School” category (except for the restricted fields above).

Courses conducted in English will be indicated in brackets (e.g. Marketing Management (English)). Courses marked under X are open to exchange students. Course List for the upcoming semester will be released in mid-July and mid-January. Students may refer to the course list from the corresponding semester of the previous year as it will most likely remain similar, although this cannot be guaranteed.

Fees
Starting the 2022 Spring semester, an application fee of USD 50 or KRW 50,000 will be charged to all exchange program applicants. 

All international students will automatically be enrolled in the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS). Cost is approx: 70 South Korean Won per month and is subject to change every year. This enrollment is mandatory and only in few cases an application of exemption of the NHIS is approved.

Graduate: 12 credits

Course levels: Undergraduate and Graduate
Undergraduate students are NOT allowed to take graduate courses. 
Graduate students are allowed to take undergraduate courses.

Accommodation

On-Campus Housing

Exchange students are eligible to apply for on-campus housing during their stay at KU. Students will be required to apply for housing online after they have been accepted as an exchange student. Applications past the deadline will not be considered for placement. Please be aware that on-campus housing is not guaranteed.

Students who are assigned on-campus housing will be required to take a tuberculosis test (x-ray, blood test, or skin test) dating after July 1st for fall semester and January 1st for spring semester.
