Undervisningens upplägg

Form of instruction
Instruction is in the form of fifteen tutorials where short papers are presented and discussed. Before each tutorial, the student will write a short paper on a topic assigned by the teacher and read all other participating students’ papers. During the tutorial, the students and the teacher will discuss and comment on all papers. After the tutorial, the students will have an opportunity to revise and resubmit the paper based on the discussion during the tutorial.
The language of the course, including its literature, is English.
A student who has been accepted and registered for the course has the right to teaching and guidance only during the term/academic year when the student was accepted and registered.

Examination modes
Examination takes place through fulfillment of two parts, a compulsory oral part specified in component 1 below, and a compulsory written part as specified in component 2 below.
Component 1
Assessment of the student’s ability to orally present and discuss the student’s papers and the student’s ability to discuss other students’ papers during the tutorials given during the course.
Component 2
Assessment of the student’s ability of written analysis and argumentation. At the end of the course, the student selects five of the papers authored during the course for assessment. These papers can be revised after original submission.
The different grades awarded for the course are Fail (U), Pass (G) and Pass with Distinction (VG).
Components 1 and 2 above are examined separately. To receive a passing course grade, a passing grade for both component 1 and 2 is required. The course grade is based on the sum of the result of the assessment of components 1 and 2 above.
A student who has failed components 1 or 2 above is entitled to complete make-up assignment(s) in order to reach a passing grade for each component, but not a higher grade.
The examiner may decide to use other forms of examination if required by particular circumstances.
A student who has passed examination may not be re-examined. A student who has taken two tests for a course or segment of a course, without passing, has the right to have another examiner appointed, unless special reasons exist.
