Kursplan, Genus, kön, kropp: teorier och debatt, 2018-09-03 och tillsvidare

Innehåll

Kursen är tvärvetenskaplig och behandlar olika förklaringsmodeller för att ge kön och kropp betydelse.
Kursen är indelad i två moment. Det första: Begreppsliggörande av könade kroppar: historiska och samtida förståelser och debatter (7,5 hp), inleds med en genomgång av centrala teoretiska begrepp tillsammans med en introduktion av kunskaps- och debattfronter, historiskt och i nutid, med utgångspunkt i olika fält och discipliner.
Det andra momentet: Teoretiska och metodologiska fördjupningar (7,5 hp) fördjupar teoretiska och metodrelaterade frågeställningar utifrån hur olika discipliner arbetar med kön, kropp och sexualitet. Aktivt deltagande i seminarier är avgörande för att kunna genomföra kursen med goda resultat. Kursen ges på engelska.

Förväntade studieresultat

Moment 1: Begreppsliggörande av könade kroppar: historiska och samtida förståelser och debatter (7,5 hp)

Efter moment 1 ska studenten:
- kunna redogöra för centrala begrepp och teorier samt forskningsdebatter om kön, kropp och sexualitet.
- kunna redogöra för hur dessa begrepp och teorier används för att inom olika discipliner ge kön betydelse.
- i en skriftlig hemtentamen kunna göra en kritisk granskning av discipliner och teorier i vilka kön ges betydelse.

Moment 2: Teoretiska och metodologiska fördjupningar (7,5 hp)

Efter moment 2 ska studenten:
- kunna redogöra för viktiga teoretiska och metodrelaterade förhållningssätt till kön inom utvalda discipliner.
- visa förmåga till självständig applicering och granskning av olika genusvetenskapliga förhållningssätt.
- i en skriftlig fördjupningsuppgift kunna genomföra en kritisk analys utifrån något av kursens tematiska områden.

Behörighetskrav

Univ: 90 hp varav minst 15 hp ska vara självständigt arbete, alternativt minst 120 hp. Dessutom krävs En A/5.

Undervisningens upplägg

Stor vikt läggs vid självständigt arbete.

Examination

Examinationen sker löpande genom aktivt deltagande samt genom individuell muntlig och skriftlig prövning. På moment 1 sker examinationen genom en skriftlig hemtentamen. På moment 2 sker examinationen genom en skriftlig uppgift bestående av en kritisk analys av teorier och debatt inom något av kursens tematiska områden. För momenten och kursen som helhet ges betygen Underkänd (U), Godkänd (G) och Väl godkänd (VG). För betyget Godkänd på hela kursen krävs att samtliga prov och obligatoriska delar är godkända. För betyget Väl godkänd på hela kursen krävs detta betyg på båda kursmomenten.
Rätt till förnyad examination erbjuds tidigast tio arbetsdagar och senast tre månader efter att resultatet av ordinarie examination meddelats. Ytterligare ett prov erbjuds inom ett år. Den som godkänts i examination får inte undergå förnyad examination för högre betyg. Möjlighet till examination baserad på samma kursplan som vid ordinarie tillfället ges under minst två år efter studentens registrering på kursen. Sammanlagt ges studenten möjlighet att genomföra prov vid fem tillfällen. Student som utan godkänt resultat har genomgått två prov för ett kursmoment eller del av moment, har rätt att få en annan examinator utsedd, om inte särskilda skäl talar emot.

Tillgodoräknande
Kursen kan ej tillgodoräknas i andra kurser i genusvetenskap vid Umeå universitet.
