Checklista inför studiestart
Innan den första dagen på din utbildning behöver du ta några viktiga steg.
1.Your offer
You have been admitted. If you want to keep your place (seat), you do not have to reply to your offer.
If you do not want to keep your place you should decline your offer by logging in to 'My pages' on universityadmissions.se, and follow the instructions. You should click "I wish to decline this offer" next to the course or programme you want to decline.
If you see "Reserve" next to your course or programme in the Notification of selection results, this means that you've been placed on a waiting list for that course/programme.
2.Aktivera ditt UMU-id och MFA
Som ny student får du automatiskt ett UMU-id, men du måste själv aktivera det. Det kan du vanligtvis göra en vecka innan terminsstart, men ofta går det att göra tidigare. Du får inget särskilt meddelande – håll själv koll när det går att aktivera.
Ditt UMU-id behöver du när du ska:
- registrera dig på utbildningen
- lämna in tentor, uppgifter eller se dina resultat
- kolla din studentmejl
- skaffa UMU-kort
- använda datorer i datorsalar och universitetets wifi
MFA – ökar din digitala säkerhet
För att öka säkerheten och minska risken att obehöriga kommer åt din information eller ditt konto behöver du aktivera MFA (multifaktorautentisering). MFA behövs för att du ska kunna logga in i olika system, exempelvis lärplattformen Canvas och studentwebben.

3.Registrera dig på kursen
Introduction meeting
You must be registered for the course you have been admitted to, in order to be allowed to follow the course and to get your results recorded during the course.
For this course, registration takes place during an introduction meeting on 3 November, 2025. If you do not attend the introduction and have not notified Student Support Informatics in advance, you will not be registered and risk losing your place (seat).
Learning platform
The communication between students and teachers will mainly take place via Canvas, one of Umeå University's learning and collaboration platforms. Therefore, it is essential that you have access to a computer and internet connection with good transfer speed. In the learning platform, you will have access to the course's activities such as information about course literature, assignments, submissions, lectures and discussion forums.
To be able to login to Canvas you need to have activated your Umu-id account and have been registered for the course. You can find more information about Canvas and Umu-id on the Student website. Once you have been registered for the course and logged in to Canvas with your Umu-id, you will see the course as an optional tab in your work environment. The learning platform in Canvas opens at the start of the course.

Course information
Greetings from Jonny Holmström, Leif Sundberg and Parisima Alaie – your teachers for the Artificial Intelligence for Business course!
The AI for Business course addresses arguably the most pressing issue for today’s organization: how to make use of AI as a resource for the organization? We will seek the answer for that question through both theoretical and practical work!
The course is an on campus course and the introduction will take place on 2 November. The course involves different learning activities such as lectures, workshops, seminars, and a live case involving interactions with a partner organization.
Active participation in these activities is essential for your learning progress and meeting the expected learning outcomes. Throughout the course, we will use the learning platform Canvas to interact and distribute information.
