Student facilities

There are student areas and lunch rooms at the University Hospital of Umeå for those of you studying medicine with us. Here, you can study, eat your own food or meet up with other students.


Atrium Betula

This is a large open space with big-screen displays and standing tables, situated right next to the Betula lecture hall.

Caverna Betula

Close to the clinical training centre and the student area that used to be the Medical Library, you will find Caverna Betula, a space for studying, relaxing and eating. The spacious, open-plan rooms feature sofas, tables and chairs, and a kitchenette area with plenty of microwaves.

Cella Betula

A smaller room for meetings and study, located adjacent to Atrium Betula on the ground floor. It can be booked via the TimeEdit room booking system.

The student area offers spaces for studying, as well as a reference collection of medical course literature that visitors can read on site.

Monday–Thursday: 08:00–22:00

Friday: 08:00–18:00

Saturday: 11:00–16:00

Sunday: 12:00–18:00

Library services

Other library services that were previously housed in these premises have moved to the University Library. There, you can borrow books you wish to take home.

"9:an"

Microwave ovens and places to sit at the student area "9:an"

"9:an" is a slightly smaller student area with seating and microwaves. It is located above the hospital’s central hall, close to the School of Dentistry, amongst other facilities.

"9:an" is on the ninth floor of Building 3A.
