Contents
The course provides an introductory overview of the role of text and writing in contemporary art. The course is the basis for the individual work with the text part of the examination, and it includes practical exercises where the student in text expresses him/ herself in connection with his/ her own artistic design work.
Expected learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the text's significance and role in contemporary art, as well as
- demonstrate basic skills in the text related to his/ her own design work.
Required Knowledge
A prerequisite for the course is that all courses from the first two years of studies are completed and approved, alternatively if you apply to later part of the programme or as an exchange student; you have completed corresponding courses (120 ECTS) from another recognised school of Fine Arts and your work samples that you applied with are approved. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English B/6.
Form of instruction
Instruction consists of seminars, lectures and practical exercises as well as supervision individually and in groups. Some written material will be distributed in the course.
Examination modes
The course is assessed continuously in seminars where the student presents a text related to his/ her own artistic design work.
Grading system: Pass or Fail.
