Contents
The Organisation of Social Care and Protection focuses on an analysis of programs and services in different contexts that have been developed to respond to the needs of particular individuals and groups in society, from the very young to the very old. In this course, special emphasis will be placed on a comparative exploration of the links between social need, policy contexts, and social care and protection. A further objective of this course is to enhance ability to critically analyse the role of the public, voluntary, and private sectors, as well as individuals and families, in the provision of care and protection services.
Expected learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
* Identify key concepts central to the understanding of social care and protection;
* Describe the influences of particular social policies on the organization of social care and protection;
* Identify connections between socio-political contexts and various social interventions;
* Investigate individuals or groups who are in some way impacted by the organizational of social care and protection;
* Comprehensively and critically analyze the effects of organization in relation to citizen participation and inclusion from locally to globally.
Form of instruction
This course will be conducted through lectures, individual and group work.
Examination modes
The examination of students will have two parts. Students will hold one group presentation. Only the grades of Fail (U) or Pass (G) will be awarded for the group work. Students will write a paper individually. The paper will be awarded one of the following grades: Pass with Distinction (VG), Pass (G) or fail (U). In order to be awarded a Pass for the entire course, the student must Pass all of the examination parts and must attend all compulsory sessions indicated in the course schedule.
The expanded scale, European Credit Transfer System, is used for international students.
