Elementary theory of electrical conductivity, Sommerfeld theory of metals, crystal lattices, reciprocal lattices, determination of crystal structure by diffraction, crystal binding, lattice dynamics, phonons, electrons in crystals, heat capacity, electrical and thermal conductivity of metals, band structure, semiconductors, electrical conductivity of electrons and holes, doping, semiconductor applications, diamagnetism, paramagnetism, magnetic ordering, superconductivity, low dimensional systems. The course includes a theory part of 8,5 ECTS credits and an experimental laboratory part of 2,0 ECTS credits.
Required Knowledge
Statistical Physics 1, or equivalent.
