Contents

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the basic principles and mathematical tools of quantum mechanics. The course starts with a presentation the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics using mathematical tools such as operators, eigenequations and expectation values. Quantum tunneling is discussed. The Schrödinger equation is solved for the hydrogen atom. Addition of angular momenta and systems of identical particles are treated. Time-independent perturbation theory and applications such as the fine structure of hydrogen and the Zeeman effect are treated.
