Contents
The objective of the course is to provide the students with possibilities to reach knowledge and understanding of various aspects within the area of risk assessment of environmental pollutants. Risk assessment of chemicals is an international challenge for experts within a wide range of research disciplines. Internationally, methods for risk assessment are being harmonized and have a great impact on activities in research, regulatory agencies and industry. The course reflects all significant facets within the area, such as sources and emissions of pollutants, partitioning and fate in the environment, human- and ecotoxicology and various modelling methods. In addition, principles and methods for risk assessment in relation to regulatory aspects are introduced. During the course, specific issues are studied using valid examples.
Required Knowledge
Fundamentals in Environmental Chemistry (15 ECTS, 5KE044) and Measurements and Modeling of Environmental Pollutants (15 ECTS, 5KE046), or the equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English A (IELTS (Academic) with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and no individual score below 5.0. TOEFL PBT (Paper-based Test) with a minimum total score of 530 and a minimum TWE score of 4. TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) with a minimum total score of 72 and a minimum score of 17 on the Writing Section). Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
