Contents
The course provides knowledge of technical applications for diagnostics and therapy in health care and basic knowledge of quality assurance and the special safety requirements applicable to the use of medical devices.
The course covers electrical signals from the heart and brain, signal analysis, electrical safety, pacemaker therapy, respiratory physiology, biosensors, implants, laser, ultrasound, intensive care and dialysis methods. Furthermore, basic atomic and nuclear physics, radioactive decay, ionizing radiation, X-ray tube, accelerators for radiotherapy, radiation detectors, gamma camera, radiation protection and imaging. The course includes mandatory laboratory work.
The course includes two modules
1. Theory, 7 credits
2. Laboratory Work, 3 credits
Required Knowledge
University: Mathematics 15 ECTS, Electronics 30 ECTS, and Introductory course in Medicine 5 ECTS, or corresponding.
