Cascading priority effects

Subject field

Ecology, community assembly of plants and animals

Timing

15 to 60 ECTS

This project includes fieldwork in summer/autumn, but alternatives using already existing databases exist.

Background and aim

Stochastic events can have profound effects on vegetation composition. For instance, small differences in arrival order can drastically change the vegetation composition. We have set up a long-term, large scale field experiment that allows testing of large scale effects on the vegetation, vegetation succession, invasion or cascading effects on the microbial or insect community.

Method

Field work or dataset/lab analyses

Workplace
