Your student thesis must be registered in DiVA
At Umeå University, all student theses and degree projects must be registered in the publication database DiVA, which means that information about your work becomes publicly visible and searchable. However, you can choose whether to publish the entire thesis freely available or to only archive it. Often, it is you as a student who registers your work yourself, but in some cases, a thesis administrator at your department does it for you.
Consent to publishing the full text
As the author, you must give consent to the full-text publishing of your thesis. If you register your thesis in DiVA yourself, you choose when you register whether the thesis is to be published in full text or only archived.
Sometimes, you need to fill in a publishing agreement
If there are two or more authors of the thesis, all authors must fill in a publishing agreement to approve full-text publishing. If an administrator at your department registers the work for you and you are the sole author, you must also fill in the agreement.
If your department has its own publishing agreement, you should use that. If not, you can use this agreement instead:

Things to check before the thesis is uploaded to DiVA
Before your thesis is uploaded to DiVA, you need to check that the full text
- is the final and approved version of the thesis;
- contains no contact information or other types of personal data; and
- does not contain copyrighted images or figures that you do not have permission to use.
If you register the thesis yourself in DiVA
If you are the one who will register your thesis in DiVA, please follow the manual below:
Register student thesis in DiVA (Manual)
After you have registered your thesis, it will be reviewed by a thesis administrator. Make sure to select which department the work is written at.
Your thesis will be visible after the administrator has published it
Before your thesis becomes visible and searchable in DiVA, a thesis administrator must publish the information about the thesis. If you have approved publishing of the thesis in its entirety, the full text will also be available.
Keep in mind that it may take some time before your work is visible in DiVA. If it has been several weeks since you registered your thesis and it is still not visible, you can contact the thesis administrator at your department.
Theses in DiVA are searchable on Uppsatser.se and other search tools, such as Google Scholar.
