Checklista inför studiestart
Innan den första dagen på din utbildning behöver du ta några viktiga steg.
1.Your offer
You have been admitted. If you want to keep your place (seat), you do not have to reply to your offer.
If you do not want to keep your place you should decline your offer by logging in to 'My pages' on universityadmissions.se, and follow the instructions. You should click "I wish to decline this offer" next to the course or programme you want to decline.
If you see "Reserve" next to your course or programme in the Notification of selection results, this means that you've been placed on a waiting list for that course/programme.
2.Aktivera ditt UMU-id och MFA
Som ny student får du automatiskt ett UMU-id, men du måste själv aktivera det. Det kan du vanligtvis göra en vecka innan terminsstart, men ofta går det att göra tidigare. Du får inget särskilt meddelande – håll själv koll när det går att aktivera.
Ditt UMU-id behöver du när du ska:
- registrera dig på utbildningen
- lämna in tentor, uppgifter eller se dina resultat
- kolla din studentmejl
- skaffa UMU-kort
- använda datorer i datorsalar och universitetets wifi
MFA – ökar din digitala säkerhet
För att öka säkerheten och minska risken att obehöriga kommer åt din information eller ditt konto behöver du aktivera MFA (multifaktorautentisering). MFA behövs för att du ska kunna logga in i olika system, exempelvis lärplattformen Canvas och studentwebben.

Om du får problem att logga in eller aktivera ditt UMU-id eller MFA kontakta IT-supporten Servicedesk så får du hjälp.
3.Registrera dig på programmet
Registration on the programme will take place on August 31 when you have an introduction to and start of the first course, see time and place below.
If you are unable to attend at the introduction, you need to contact the programme director Nathaniel Street, nathaniel.street@umu.se, or study administrator Hanna Öhman, hanna.ohman@umu.se, in advance, or you risk loosing your place in the programme.

Personal laptop and login credentials
You will need a personal laptop computer for all courses in the programme. You will use the laptop to work on a remote compute cluster but need a functioning laptop for this. We will guide you through the required setup during the first week but for this you will need to be able to authenticate using your UMU login credentials.
Foreign students will also require a digital copy of the information age from your passport and it is advantageous to have setup Freja (https://frejaeid.com/ and https://manual.umu.se/en/freja-eid/).
