You cannot report misconduct by email
Your identity is protected by secrecy. At Umeå University, email may not be used for information that is protected by secrecy. This means that we cannot use email to communicate about whistleblower cases.
What should I include in my report?
Describe as clearly as possible your suspicions or the information you are providing.
Specify the individual or individuals it concerns.
Include any documents, photographs, emails or other relevant information.
If there are other individuals who can provide information, include their contact information.
After reporting misconduct, what happens next?
An authorised university officer will review your report and begin the investigation. The officer may need to contact you during the investigation. The investigation may be transferred to another unit at the University or another authority that will then take action.
The investigation could also conclude that the report does not qualify as a whistleblower case or that, for other reasons, no further action is needed. If so, the case will be closed.
If information is shown to be incorrect
The Whistleblowing Act does not apply if false information is intentionally reported or if you commit a crime by submitting the report.
If a mistake is made and you had what the act calls “reasonable grounds” to believe that the information you reported was true, you may still be covered by the legal protection provided by the act.
