Lennart Bondesson was a distinguished statistician whose career spanned several Swedish universities, leaving a lasting impact on research and education in mathematical statistics. Lennart Bondesson made a generous donation to Umeå University which by the decision of the University Board is administered by the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.
The annual return from the Lennart Bondesson Foundation is used to:
• Promoting a strong and vibrant research and teaching environment for researchers in mathematics, mathematical statistics, and statistics based in Umeå, characterized by a high level of national and international exchange.
• Encouraging collaboration between mathematicians, mathematical statisticians, and statisticians at universities in Umeå.
• Contributing to establishing Umeå as a leading research environment in the fields of mathematics, mathematical statistics, and statistics.
