The Research Seminar Series in Philosophy invites you to a guest lecture with Bart Streumer, Groningen University. Streumer will speak on the topic of "A New Transcendental Argument for Robust Realism".

All interested are welcome to attend this lecture.

Abstract

In this paper I will present a new argument for robust realism about normativity. The argument has three main premises: that we cannot believe an error theory about all normative judgements; that trying to endorse the best version of expressivism about normativity makes us believe robust realism; and that trying to endorse the best version of reductive realism about normativity also makes us believe robust realism. I will show that, together with some supplementary premises, these premises form a transcendental argument for robust realism
