IceLab Affiliate Jonatan Klaminder will give a talk in IceLab titled 'Soils like a melody' on April 17th at 13.30.
Abstract
Soils host a vast diversity of organisms whose activities regulate key ecosystem processes, yet studying these organisms in situ remains challenging due to the opaque and complex nature of belowground environments. Recent advances in passive acoustic monitoring and sound analysis offer a promising non-invasive approach for detecting and quantifying biological processes belowground. In this seminar, I will explore the potential of acoustic monitoring to investigate processes hidden beneath our feet. I will highlight how passive acoustic monitoring and accessible analytical tools may advance our ability to study important belowground ecological processes.
