Time Friday 26 November, 2021 at 12:00 - 13:00
Place Online: ZOOM

On November 26, 2021, Linda Lundmark, head of the Arctic Research School at the Arctic Centre, Umeå University (Arcum), will hold a lunch seminar where she in detail will present the research school, and ideas on how the research school can benefit researchers and already admitted PhD students.

Arcum's Arctic Research School has a focus on Sustainable Development to highlight a dimension that has long been important for Arctic regions, and that many researchers also study from their fields of study.

- "Most people are familiar with the basics of sustainable development as it relates to economic sustainability, social conditions and community development, and environmental sustainability, but often research on sustainable development is about a small part of, for example, a system, a process or a context", says Linda Lundmark.

What the research school wants to create is an environment that promotes interdisciplinarity by bringing together supervisors and doctoral students from a wide range of disciplines at Umeå University in discussions, lectures, workshops, field trips and more, with a focus on sustainable development in our area. In this way, additional dimensions of sustainable development can be added to already existing research.

On Friday 26 November between noon and 1PM, you will have the opportunity to hear Linda Lundmark talk about the process, conditions and concept of the Arctic Research School. She will explain the opportunities and benefits it offers to PhD students and supervisors, and how it will ultimately benefit Arctic research at Umeå University.
