Stephen Daly holds an undergraduate law degree from his hometown university University College Cork, Ireland.

"From 2012-2013 I undertook an LLM at University College London, after which I moved to Oxford to undertake a PhD under the supervision of Professor Judith Freedman. Since June 2016 I have been a postdoctoral researcher at King's College London."

In FairTax, Stephen Daly is working with Ann Mumford (King's College London) and Ulrike Spangenberg (Umeå University) in Work Package 1. His research includes to critically evaluate the EU's legislative competence to apply fundamental tax policy norms to Member States.

"In our research group, we hope to produce reforms in relation to the EU's legislative capacity that can enhance sustainability for its citizens. In addition, we hope that some of the research can be turned into articles publishable in leading academic journals. FairTax is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with scholars in different disciplines from myriad different countries. This is both professionally exciting, in that it allows for work to be subjected to a wide variety of approaches, styles and academic cultures, and personally exciting as it presents the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful, diverse group."
