European Representative Democracy (ERD)

Research infrastructure The Representative Democracy Data Archive (REPDEM) includes the European Representative Democracy Data Archive and other world-leading databases for research on the struggle for the power of government, primarily in European parliamentary democracies.

The data archive contains information on governments, parliaments, and political parties for parliamentary (mainly European) democracies. This information has primarily been collected in collaboration with a network of country experts, but also through an extensive review of available research. The database contains information on all governments formed since 1945, including coalition governments, single-party governments, and non-partisan governments. The data can, for example, be used for studies on government formation, coalition governance, and government termination, but can also be connected to studies on political opinion and the effects of political systems in various social areas. The database is Open Access and has been used for a significant amount of research and peer-reviewed publications.

REPDEM is a social science faculty’s prioritized infrastructure, and since 2020 it has also been a part of the national infrastructure project Demscore.
