Deep Chanda is a postdoctoral research fellow in Chinmay Dwibedi lab at Umeå University, supported by the Kempe Foundation. His research centers on understanding how human gut bacteria adapt to internal and external perturbations such as diseases, dietary changes, and drug treatments. He focuses particularly on the role of the microbiome in metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and liver diseases.
His PhD work involved identifying obesity-associated gut microbial signatures across a global cohort, highlighting key microbial species linked to functional shifts.
Deep collaborates with a broad network of international researchers in fields ranging from genomics to clinical medicine. His overarching aim is to elucidate microbial mechanisms that shape human health and influence disease susceptibility.
