Héloïse obtained her Master’s degree in Biology and Health with a focus on Nutrition at Clermont-Ferrand University (France) and then she pursued with a PhD in Microbiology and health in the host-microbe interaction, in Microbes, Intestine, Inflammation and Susceptibility of the Host (M2ISH) research team, in Clermont-Ferrand. During her PhD, she evaluated the virulence factors from colibactin-producing Escherichia coli in the development of colorectal cancer. She developed an interest to understand how such pathogens could cross the protective mucus layer.
Héloïse joined Björn Schröder's research group as a post-doctoral in June 2025, to study the impact of diet on the gut microbiota and the protective intestinal mucus layer
