I am the Communications Officer at Umeå Institute of Design (UID). I work to strengthen the visibility and reputation of Umeå Institute of Design among prospective students, industry partners, the research community, and wider society. I lead and coordinate strategic communications that support UID’s mission and values, and help translate our education and research into clear, engaging narratives across channels.
My work supports the full breadth of UID’s education and research. This includes strengthening awareness of our Bachelor’s Programme in Industrial Design and our three Master’s programmes: MFA Interaction Design, MFA Advanced Product Design, and MFA Transportation Design. I also help share the impact of UID’s design research, collaborations, and public-facing activities in ways that are accessible, accurate, and aligned with our brand voice.
What I do at UID
At UID, I work closely with the Visual Communicator to strengthen the institute’s visibility and to showcase the work produced by our students, staff, and collaborators.
In practice, this includes:
Developing and delivering strategic communication plans across recruitment, research, and partnerships
Shaping editorial narratives that reflect UID’s mission, values, and design culture
Supporting programme communication, including web content and campaign messaging
Strengthening visibility for student projects, degree work, and public events
Working with colleagues to ensure communication is inclusive, clear, and aligned across channels
