Hero shot in the northern wilderness of Sweden.
Rural mobility
Tajga Rover is a design proposal for an autonomous, shared vehicle tailored for the rural north of Sweden — where long distances, harsh winters, and a highly active lifestyle challenge current mobility solutions. As rural areas face declining public transport and growing car dependency, this project explores how inclusive, sustainable, and flexible transportation can be reimagined for low-density environments. The design process was user-centered, combining field research, interviews, and scenario development. The final concept prioritises accessibility, safety, and versatility — from transporting skis and bikes to offering space for wheelchairs and delivery robots. The interior is adaptable and flexible, reflecting the active lifestyle and rhythm of life. The exterior reflects a robust, tool-like identity inspired by outdoor gear. While rooted in northern Sweden, the concept is scalable and adaptable to rural contexts globally, aiming to support a more equitable and connected future for all.
