What was it that made you apply for the programme here in Umeå?

I applied to Umeå because the experience of studying in the far north was appealing to me. I always wanted to see the northern lights.

What is it that you liked with the program?

I liked that it was very international.

What is it that you liked about Umeå?

Umeå is a very cosy town and provides you with everything you need. If you feel like it, nature and wilderness is just out the door.

Is there any unexpected side of Swedish culture that you would like to tell us about?

Swedes can actually be very distant and hard to approach.

Do you have any advice to German students that are thinking of applying to our programs?

Be aware that the Swedish housing market is so very different than what we know from Germany. Start looking for a place to stay very early!

What have you been working with since graduating from our programme (Company/country)?

I am currently doing a PhD in Economics in Göteborg.

How do you think your stay in Umeå contributed to your career?

In Umeå I was able to take Swedish courses that permitted me understand the people here. Also, as I was already in the country, applying and being aware of my PhD was much easier.
