Innehåll
Målet med kursen är att bidra till ett kritiskt förhållningssätt vad gäller relationen mellan globalisering, migration och välfärdsstatliga system. Varje område är i sig själv komplext och betydelsefullt men under denna kurs kommer focus ligga på relationerna dem emellan och deras påverkan på varandra. Förutom en allmän introduktion till dessa tre teman och deras relation till varandra kommer olika länders förhållningssätt till invandring och integration, erfarenheter bland migranter i relation till socialpolitik och ekonomiska förutsättningar.
Förväntade studieresultat
För godkänt moment ska den studerande avseende kunskap och förståelse kunna:
- redogöra för sociologiska perspektiv gällande globalisering, välfärdsstat och internationell migration
- visa på en bred förståelse för centrala frågor, teman och forskningsområden som ligger i skärningspunkten mellan globalisering, internationell migration och välfärdsstat
För godkänt moment ska den studerande avseende färdighet och förmåga kunna:
- visa forskningskompetens som att identifiera nya och viktiga forskningsfrågor, hitta och sammanställa relevant forskning, skilja mellan trovärdig och icke-trovärdig information och göra trovärdiga analyser
- visa analytisk förmåga och kunna kommunicera effektivt, både muntligt och skriftligt vad gäller sociologiska teorier, argument och begrepp relaterade till globalisering, internationell migration och välfärdsstatliga system
För godkänt moment ska den studerande avseende värderingsförmåga och förhållningssätt kunna:
- granska olika metoders lämplighet att besvara forskningsfrågor
- visa en medvetenhet kring hur samhällsvetenskap kan påverka praktiken inom det civila samhället, beslutande organ på kommunal, regional och nationell nivå och inom relevanta yrken
Behörighetskrav
Univ: Kurser 90 hp inom det samhällsvetenskapliga utbildningsområdet (ekonomisk historia 90 hp, freds- och konfliktstudier 90 hp, företagsekonomi 90 hp, genusvetenskap 90 hp, informatik 90 hp, kulturgeografi 90 hp, nationalekonomi 90 hp, pedagogik 90 hp, psykologi 90 hp, socialt arbete 90 hp, sociologi 90 hp, statsvetenskap 90 hp), eller motsvarande kunskaper.
Engelska A/5 och svenska för grundläggande behörighet för högskolestudier (om kursen ges på svenska).
Undervisningens upplägg
Undervisningen sker i form av föreläsningar, seminarier och individuellt arbete. Kursen lägger stor vikt vid aktivt deltagande. Samtliga seminarier är obligatoriska. Studenten skall ha tillgång till dator och bredbandsuppkoppling. Studenten skall ha möjlighet att ladda ner anvisade program på tillgänglig dator. All undervisning sker på engelska.
Examination
Examinationen sker genom aktivt deltagande i obligatoriska seminarier, genomförande av anvisade uppgifter inför seminarierna (individuellt eller i grupp) samt individuellt författade uppgifter. Seminariedeltagande och genomförande av anvisade uppgifter inför seminarierna, presentationer samt författade paper kommer att ligga till grund för ett individuellt betyg. Om en student är frånvarande från obligatoriska seminarier, eller anvisade uppgifter, krävs fullgörande av anvisade kompletteringsuppgifter. Det svenska betygssystemet innebär att studenten bedöms som Underkänd, Godkänd eller Väl Godkänd. Internationella studenter bedöms utifrån ECTS-skalan.
Om studenten får betyget Underkänd på en inlämnad uppgift får studenten komplettera examinationen i samråd med examinator enligt en tidsplan fastställd av examinator. Studenten har rätt till maximalt fem kompletteringstillfällen. En student har rätt att begära att få byta examinator efter två underkända prov/motsvarande på kurs eller delar av kurs. Studierektor kontaktas i sådana fall.
Examination baserad på denna kursplan kan garanteras under minst två år efter studentens förstagångsregistrering på kursen.
