About the Arctic Graduate School

Here you can find information about the School, how it works, who to contact, and how to apply.

What is the Arctic Graduate School?

The Arctic Graduate school with a Focus on Sustainable Development is a part of Arctic Centre at Umeå University, and has both an Arctic and a sustainability focus. The school is for Doctoral students with research focusing on these two areas.

How does it work?

The Arctic Graduate School is based on a collaboration model where doctoral students are employed at the departments, but the Graduate School cover 50% of the salary cost for the Doctoral student. This is a signed agreement between the Arctic Graduate School and the department (or equivalent).

The pedagogical model

The model aims to create context for doctoral students and supervisors, and a community around the common theme. It consists of an interdisciplinary environment where commitment is the key to development and success.
