Description: The SUMFOLK database contains a compilation of the aggregated population reports for the years 1895-1930 made by Gunnar Myrdal's research group during the 1930s. They are based on information sent to Statistics Sweden (SCB) by the country's ministers. There is information on migration, population and the number of births and deaths at parish level. Myrdal's research group extracted certain information from the original forms to their own excerpt forms. These excerpts have been registered by DDB and are available in the SUMFOLK database. As there were no excerpts for the parishes in Södermanland County, these have been registered directly from the original forms. The original forms are available via the National Archives .

Usually parish but in some cases smaller units. Inflyttade män* Number of men who during the year have moved into the parish from other Swedish parishes. For the years 1890-1910 and all years for the parishes in Södermanland County, this variable includes the value in the variable Immigrant män. Inflyttade kvinnor* Number of women who during the year have moved into the parish from other Swedish parishes. For the years 1890-1910 and all years for the parishes in Södermanland County, this variable includes the value in the variable Immigrant kvinnor. Utflyttade män* Number of men who during the year have moved out of the parish to other Swedish parishes. For the years 1890-1910 and all years for the parishes in Södermanland County, this variable includes the value in the variable Emigrant män. Utflyttade kvinnor* Number of women who during the year have moved out of the parish to other Swedish parishes. For the years 1890-1910 and all years for the parishes in Södermanland County, this variable includes the value in the variable Emigrant kvinnor. Immigrant män Number of men who immigrated from other countries during the year. Immigrant kvinnor Number of women who immigrated from other countries during the year. Emigrant män Number of men who emigrated to other countries during the year. Emigrant kvinnor Number of women who emigrated to other countries during the year. Folkmängd män Population, number of men at the end of the year. Folkmängd kvinnor Population, number of women at the end of the year. Födda totalt Total number of births during the year. These should always be considered to make an assessment of whether any value should be changed.
*) According to the instructions on the original forms for the years 1890-1910, immigrants and emigrants are included in the variables for moving into the parish (Inflyttade…) and moving out of the parish (Utflyttade…), respectively. For the years 1911-1930, these are separated into different fields. During the registering of the parishes in Södermanland County, this has been handled in a special way. For these parishes, the years 1911-1930 have been treated in the same way as before 1911, ie. the values for immigrants and emigrants have been included in the variables for moving into the parish (Inflyttade…) and moving out of the parish (Utflyttade…), respectively.
