Description
The database consists of information from the medical journal kept by physician Jakob Esaias Wegelius at the Röbäck hospital outside Umeå, Sweden. The hospital was established by the army during the Finnish War 1808 – 1809. The journal covers the period August 1808 – January 1809 and contains patient information such as regimental and company affiliation, soldier names and soldier numbers, dates of admission, discharge, and death, as well as medical diagnoses. The handwritten tables have been transcribed into a digital table with standardised columns. A detailed description and information about the variables can be found in the accompanying documentation.
