To this end, we have established special resources aimed at building bridges of understanding and mutual enlightenment between education/research and society/industry. Among these special resources are organisations such as the Research Support and Collaboration Office and Uminova Innovation.

Research Support and Collaboration Office

The Research Support and Collaboration Office functions as a support and a way in for companies, organisations, and authorities who wish to co-operate with Umeå University. You are welcome to contact us if you, for example, need help developing an idea for collaboration, are curious about ways to meet our students and researchers, or wish to improve your level of professional competence.

We also provide information and support to the university's researchers concerning funding from, e.g., the European Structural and Investment Funds, and the EU Framework Programmes for Research and Development. The kind of funding that often aims to facilitate collaboration and strengthen the impact of research and innovation in society. 

The Research Support and Collaboration Office

International Office

International Office works with university-wide questions pertaining to internationalisation. We are a strategic support for the university management, faculties and departments in implementing the university's internationalisation strategy and achieving the goals in its vision.

International Office manages and coordinates the university's participation in several international cooperations, networks and projects, for example: Erasmus+, Nordplus, Linnaeus-Palme, the Nordic Centre in India and the Nordic Centre in Fudan.

Uminova Innovation AB

Companies in need of research skills can obtain help through Uminova Innovation AB. Our main aim is to stimulate an exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience between the University and the industry. Uminova Innovation AB is a gateway to the research resources available at the University, but it is also a gateway to the industry for researchers.

Our centre catalogues, investigates and evaluates research results from the point of view of commercial viability. When research is found to be of commercial interest, we can assist the researcher through all the necessary steps to establishing a company.
