In northern Västerbotten, 30 kilometres from Jörn, lies the village of Missenträsk, where Sara Lidman was born. The surroundings inspired Sara Lidman in her writing and are a secluded, peaceful and creative environment. Here you have the opportunity to rent one of her two houses on the property for a shorter or longer period.
During Sara Lidman's lifetime, there were just over 250 people living in Missenträsk year-round. Now there are about thirty residents.
In September 2001, Sara Lidman donated the property Missenträsk1:5 – her childhood home – in Skellefteå municipality to the Lars Färgares gård foundation. The Lars Färgares gård foundation is an independently managed foundation that is not affiliated with Umeå University.
Sara Lidman's property consists of two houses: the large house and the small house, which are located about 20 metres apart. Both houses have access to mobile broadband. The code can be found under each box and in your booking confirmation.
The large house
The large house is available for rent all year round and has four beds, with the option of an extra bed.
The small house
The small house is available for rent from May to October and has four beds, with the option of an extra bed. The small house is adapted for people with disabilities, with features such as a ramp at the entrance and a wider door to the bathroom.

Connections to Missenträsk
Train - The nearest train station is in Jörn. You can book trains via both SJ and Norrtåg.
Flight - You can fly to Skellefteå or Arvidsjaur airports. Continue with county bus line 26 to Missenträsk.
Keys can be collected from the property manager. You need to contact the property manager one week before you arrive. You will find the contact details in your booking confirmation.
You are responsible for cleaning when you end your stay. Cleaning equipment and cleaning products are available in the house. A cleaning inspection will be carried out at the end of your stay. If the house is left uncleaned, you will be charged as a tenant.
