Our Sections.

Infection and Immunology Section

At the section of Infection and Immunology, clinical and translational research is conducted which links immunology, bacteriology and infection. The research aim to identify the cause of infectious diseases and to develop new treatment strategies and vaccines. Teachers and researchers at the section participate in teaching and supervision of degree projects for students of the medical-, dental-, nurse-, and biomedicine programs. The section is also responsible for the biomedical analyst program in its entirety. The section offers elective courses at basic and advanced level given in Swedish as well as English in the fields of infection and biomedical laboratory science but also postgraduate and postdoctoral education with in the area of clinical microbiology, immunology and infectious disease.

Virology Section

The section of Virology have broad and extensive activities in both research and teaching. The section conducts cutting-edge research with a focus on viral disease pathogenesis, how they arise and spreads, and how we can improve patient diagnostics and treatment. The department participates in teaching in the medical, dental, biomedical, and biomedical laboratory science program, has master's courses and conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral education.
