The department teach classes in subjects of the structure and function of the cell, medical biochemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry.
Classes taught by teacher from the department are mainly part of the medicine, odontology, and biomedical programs at Umeå University. Beside the classes in these programs the department offers a web based basic course in modern cell biology and biochemistry, Molecules of Life. The department also offers a summer course, Biomedical experimental methods.
