Resources

We have a number of resources available within the fields of DNA-RNA, Histology and Protein.

Resources within histology

BenchMark ULTRA

A fully automatic instrument for staining immunohistochemistry and ISH on tissue sections.

For more information, contact Pernilla Andersson or Susanne Gidlund.

Scanner Panoramic 250

For digitisation of slides.

Is available through our userclub.

For more information, contact Susanne Gidlund or Pernilla Andersson.

TMA Grand Master

Automated instrument used for making Tissue Micro Arrays.

The scanner is available through our userclub.

For more information, contact Susanne Gidlund or Pernilla Andersson.

PALM MicroBeam system (Zeiss)

Lazer micro dissection system for isolation of tissue from cryo sectioning or FFPE-sections as well as for isolation of live cells.

For more information, contact Pernilla Wikström.

Resources within protein

ChemiDoc

Chemiluminescence, e.g., western blot.

For more information, contact Agneta Öberg.

ELISA

ELISA-reader for 96-well plates.

For more information, contact Agneta Öberg.

ÄKTA

Is used for chromatography of proteins.

For more information, contact Per Zetterström.

BLItz

The instrument is placed in building 6M.

For more information, contact Alexej Schmidt.

The Mesoscale (MSD) multiplex immunoassay instrument

The instrument is placed in building 6M.

For more information, contact Johan Hultdin.

LI-COR Odyssey CLx

Li-COR Odyssey CLx is mainly used for detecting and quantifying Western blots without using chemiluminescence and darkrooms.

Odyssey CLx can also be used for other assays such as In-cell Western blot, EMSA/gel-shift assay, coomassie staining, tissue staining etc.

Image studio software is used for analyse and is easy to use. Image Studio Lite software for Western Blot analysis can be downloaded for free at the LI-COR homepage.

For more information, contact Karthik Aripaka.

autoMACS

For automated cell separation of e.g. blood, bone marrow and tissue.
Homogenisation of tissue can be accomplished by using the attached "gentleMACS™ Octo Dissociator" instrument.

Information about products and applications can be found on the Miltenyi website.

For more information, contact Sofie Degerman.

Resources within DNA-RNA

Illumina iScan

This instrument is used for scanning of high-resolution SNP and DNA methylation arrays.

Laboratory equipment for preparation of arrays along with the scanner can be found in our "Illumina room" at our department, and we also provide services at the Epigenetic platform.

If you have any questions or are interested in using the instrument, you are welcome to contact Sofie Degerman.

Bio-Rad GelDoc XR

Photosystem for easy documentation as well as analysis of several types of gels, both DNA and protein.

The documentation system is available for all to use, but due to health reasons no EtBr-stained gels may be used in the equipment.

For more information, contact Maria Brattsand.

PyroMark Q24

Pyrosequencing is a "sequencing-by-synthesis"-technique that enables DNA-sequencing of short amplicon, SNP-analysis and sequencing specific DNA methylation analysis.

Our version of the instrument is not suitable for long term test series but is on the other hand especially adapted for DNA methylation analysis.

The instrument is available through our userclub.

For more information, contact Torbjörn Nilsson, professor at the unit of clinical chemistry.

Illumina MiSeq

A MiSeq for next generation sequencing is available at the department.

PCR

PCR instruments include real-time PCR (qPCR), digital PCR, gene expression analysis, HRM and genotyping.

Equipment (among others):

QS6 quantitative PCR instruments (96-/384-well) (Applied Biosystems)

Veriti Thermal cycler (96-well) (Applied Biosystems)

QX200 Droplet Digital PCR (Bio-rad)

IQ5 instrument (96 well) (Bio-rad)
