The purpose of the course is achieved by a supervised internship within public administration, an organization or a company, in Sweden or abroad.

based on the internship, discern and analyze needs for additional economic knowledge, and competencies for working life,
execute qualified work tasks relevant to the education's goal and purpose,
gather, process and present information at the workplace,

The course is offered to students at the Master's Programme in Economics (SANEM). For admission to the course, the student needs to have at least 45 credits in economics at advanced level.
Form of instruction
The course includes compulsory full-time studies during a full semester and consists of two main parts:
The internship. The student attends the internship full-time and during regular working hours. An appointed supervisor, together with the person responsible for the internship course, is responsible for the internship.
The writing of an internship report, which the student works on continuously during the internship.
The grade awarded is either Pass (G, godkänd) or Fail (U, underkänd) and the grade Pass is obtained when the following has been completed successfully; an internship plan, internship period and an individual written report of analytical character. The report shall adhere to the format and style specified in the report instructions and shall be submitted at the completion of the internship, or at the latest one week thereafter. The internship course responsible also collects information from the internship supervisor, as a basis for the assessment.
Any supplementary examination must be done per the examiner's instructions and submitted within four weeks after the assessment of the written report has been announced.
The responsible examiner has the right to, in consultation with the supervisor, decide to fail a student during an internship if the student has demonstrated such shortcomings regarding knowledge, skills or attitudes that these, individually or in combination, entail a significant risk that the student during the internship may harm any other person physically or psychologically. The student then interrupts his or her internship and receives the grade Fail. In connection with such a decision, an individual development plan must be drawn up by the examiner in consultation with the student. The development plan must state what knowledge, skills and attitude the student needs to acquire in order to resume the internship and a time when this is to be verified. The student is entitled to two such verification sessions per year. However, the total number of verification occasions should not exceed four, unless there are special reasons. If the student, at such a verification occasion, shows that he or she has acquired the knowledge, skills, and attitude stated in the development plan, the student shall have the right to conduct a new internship period, provided that the student has not exhausted his or her internship opportunities.
The course is available as an elective within the Master's Programme in Economics (SANEM). The course is to be taken following the programme syllabus, and the student is responsible for finding his or her internship position.
The internship must be relevant to the student's education, and the content of the internship is determined in consultation between the workplace, the student and the internship course responsible. The content is put in writing in an agreement that is to be signed before the start of the internship, and the student must have an appointed supervisor at the workplace.
No compensation is paid to the student for additional costs incurred in connection with the completion of the internship.
