Contents

During this course students will learn how XPS can be used to study the chemical composition and oxidation state of elements at the surface and interface.
Theoretical part of the course includes the basics of atomic structure and photoemission process aiming the understanding how the photoelectron spectra are produced.
Several practical laboratory works with a modern electron spectrometer are devoted to XPS spectra acquiring, processing and evaluating, and focused on possible strategies in unknown sample investigation.
