Minor Field Studies is a scholarship that makes it possible for final-year students at bachelor's or master's level to carry out degree projects abroad. Meet Rebecca Nygren and Markus Sundström, medical students who will talk about their experience of MFS in Indonesia. Join us at this digital information meeting.

With the scholarship, you can travel to a low- or middle-income country to collect material for your thesis or degree project. The field study must last for a minimum of 8 consecutive weeks and a maximum of 26 weeks and the scholarship is SEK 27,000. The last day to apply is 15 May.

To apply for a scholarship there are certain criteria you must meet. You must be a registered student at Umeå University, be proficient in English and preferably have basic knowledge of Swedish, be a Swedish citizen or have a permanent residence permit in Sweden. If you are from another Nordic country but not a Swedish citizen you must have been registered in the Swedish Population Registry for at least one year. You must not have started a postgraduate education. For more information regarding eligibility see our website.

A link will be sent out by email prior to the event.

Whether Umeå University will be able to grant scholarships for field studies depends on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' travel recommendations.

We encourage anyone interested in Minor Field Studies to submit your application. We will make preliminary assessments of the applications in order to make our decisions, if the travel recommendations should change.
