Johan Eklöf is Professor of Macrophyte Ecosystem Biology and Vice Head of the Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences at Stockholm University. His research spans tropical to temperate regions and examines how marine consumer–resource interactions shape ecosystem processes and services, how trophic interactions mediate the impacts of environmental change, and how this knowledge can inform ecosystem-based conservation and restoration in a rapidly changing world. In his talk, he will explore changes and shifts in shallow benthic food webs, and how these may be confronted by managers, with the Baltic Sea as a model system.
