Rådhustorget
The installation, created by UMA1 students 2018/2019 at Umeå School of Architecture, is one of four fragments of a wooden pavilion, from which the others are placed at the Arts Campus. The motive for placing different parts of the pavilion in various urban sites is to trigger curiosity and to build bridges between the Architecture School and its surrounding community. The fragment of the pavilion that has been installed at Rådhustorget is temporary, flexible and multi-purposed. It might be used as a stage for performance or as a space to hang out or sit down for a while. Ideally, it might work as a platform for gathering, a common space for social interactions, a framing of the particular context and not least – as a shelter for bodies.
The project is a cooperation between Umeå Municipality and Umeå School of Architecture.
